Access and Inclusion

We work closely with City of Adelaide Access and Inclusion Advisory Panel to break down barriers to participation at the Centre, and work towards a more inclusive experience for all of our customers.

Staff trained in Disability Awareness
Our staff induction process now includes disability awareness training. This will ensure all staff working within the Centre assist in providing a postive experience for all of our customers.

Centre Facilities
There is a ramp into the Main Pool, as well as two accessible lifts into our Leisure Pool. We have automatic doors for easy access to the pool area and accessible change facilities in our main foyer area.

Cafe Fusion
We have had a menu for customers who are visually imparied produced in line with Royal Society for the Blind recommendations for font size and style. The menu is located in our new Cafe Fusion as well as on their webpage.

Recharge point for electric mobility devices and equipment
The Centre will also become a recognised “Recharge Point” in Council’s partnership with Recharge Scheme Australia. For more information on this scheme please visit

Companion Card
The Aquatic Centre is also an affiliate of the Companion Card program. Companion Card is a card issued to people with a permanent disability who require attendant care support which allows a companion to enter free of charge to participating venues and activities.

Accessible & Assisted Change Room
Our adult change facility uses a swipe card access for safe and easy acces. It is located at the front of the Centre adjacent the female change room, includes a range of specialised equipment for customers with sever or profound disabilities. These facilities have extra features to meet specific needs designed to assist people with severe or profound diabilities, including:
• A height-adjustable adult-sized changing bench
• Rifton Support Station
• A tracking hoist system
• A safe and clean environment

Users need to bring their own sling. Only users and carers accustomed to hoisting should use the hoist. It is a Duracare CX7 and the hoist is a ceiling mounted H-Track system with a working limit of 270kg. Aquatic Centre staff are not able to provide additional personal support assistance.

Continous Improvement

As we are a venue focussed on continous improvement we will continue to work through our Access and Inclusion Action Plan, and keep this site updated as we work through further improvements.
