Centre Information

We are always looking to provide you with a better, safer, cleaner, more enjoyable and more family-friendly environment. In order to achieve our goal we are implementing some new pool rules.

Water Safety

In the interest of the safety of children in the water, Adelaide Aquatic Centre will be strongly enforcing “Watch Around Water” program, an initiative of the Aquatic Recreation Institute – South Australian Branch and the Royal Lifesaving Society South Australia.

The following rules must be followed:

Children under 5 years:

  • MUST be constantly supervised by a responsible person (parent or carer)
  • MUST be accompanied in the water by a responsible person (16yrs or older )
  • MUST remain within ARMS REACH at all times in the water.

Children under 10 years:

  • MUST be constantly supervised by a responsible person (parent or carer 16 yrs or older)
  • MUST be within clear view with no physical or structural barriers between you and the child

Also:

  • Swimmers requiring a floatation device are not permitted to use Dive Pool or Cascade pool
  • A child of limited swimming ability regardless of age using a floatation device must be accompanied in the water by a responsible person at all times

PLEASE NOTE:

Children under 8 years of age are not permitted in the following pools:

  • Dive Pool
  • Deep end of Main Pool
  • Deep end of Cascade Pool

Children under 16 years of age are not permitted to use the spas, sauna and the steam room.

Swimwear

It is important to wear appropriate swimwear for the following reasons:

  • Safety – t-shirts and street clothing become heavy in the water, they restrict our movement and drag us down
  • Hygiene – we wear street clothing everywhere else
  • Water quality – lint from cotton clogs up our filters and the water can’t be cleaned properly

Acceptable Swimwear

  • Racing bathers
  • Synthetic swimming tights (Nylon/ Lycra/ Polyester)
  • Synthetic swimming costume (Nylon/ Lycra/ Polyester)
  • Rash vests
  • Synthetic board shorts (Nylon)
  • Football shorts

Unacceptable Swimwear

  • Street wear
  • T-shirts, shirts & singlets
  • Cut-off shorts
  • Cut-off jeans
  • Underwear & g-strings

Designated Eating Areas

To provide a clean and hygienic environment we have designated eating areas around the Centre, which are:

  • Foyer – in front of the kiosk
  • Behind the main pool – along lift-up doors
  • Stands – around the centre
  • Garden lawns – around the centre

Please note, there is NO EATING around our leisure pools.

We greatly appreciate your assistance in implementing our new rules.
