Why is there an age rule (5+)?
The waterslides are fast and include turns and spins. The 5+ rule originates from the guidance of the slide manufacturer and the national GSPO (Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations). The rule is in place to ensure the safety of all riders.
-
My child is tall enough, why can't they ride?
Height alone isn't enough. Kids under 5 can still struggle with deep water or strong currents at the slide exit. The rule helps make sure they're ready for the speed, spins, and water depth. -
Do you need to complete a swim test?
No. As the slides at Adelaide Aquatic have a flume exit, there is no need to complete a swim competency test before riding. -
Who sets these rules?
Adelaide Aquatic Centre follows GSPO guidelines and the slide manufacturers recommendations. We strive to go above and beyond to make sure the fun stays safe.
