Physiotherapy

Reduce your pain and get the most out of life.

Twenty years ago, in a devastating blow, Peter Sampras was forced to withdraw from the US Open. The reason – lower back pain.

More recent, Serena Williams left the Cincinnati Masters with back injury; Roger Federer missed most of a year with a knee issue; and Nadal has been plagued by injury for eight years.

And that's just the tennis.

It's not just sports superstars who suffer from pain. Mothers and fathers the world over will contend that the repetitive lifting, holding, carrying and rocking of their babies have earned them the right to name their own ailment – call it bundle-of-joy-itis.

Pain has a habit of getting in the way. But thankfully, pain can be treated.

With 15+ years helping people just like you, physiotherapist Stacey Stoneman will heal – rather than simply manage – your pain.

Stoneman Physiotherapy is based here at Adelaide Aquatic Centre, out in the therapy room between the spas and the gym. A former kiwi, and now Adelaide local, Stacey Stoneman holds:

  • Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Certification
  • Bachelor of Health Science (Physiotherapy)
  • Bachelor of Sports Studies

To guarantee you expert knowledge based on science and evidence to give you the best treatment for your needs.

How do I know if physiotherapy is for me?

Physiotherapy uses physical techniques to improve movement, reduce pain, speed up recovery, and increase quality of life. If you feel pain, particularly in the back or joints, or have had an injury, see a physio. No doctor referral needed, though it doesn't hurt to talk options first.

Stoneman's approach is to focus on 'whole body' physiotherapy. He has over a decade of experience in:

  • Sciatic pain
  • Chronic knee pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Musculoskeletal disorders
  • Acute lower-back pain
  • Chronic lower-back pain

During your session, you have access to the Aquatic Centre – and may be recommended by Stoneman to use certain areas (e.g. the weights room, the pool) for your treatment.

How does it all work?

Send a message to Stacey and let him know what's troubling you: 0413 965 207 or [email protected]

He will find a suitable space in your calendar to book you in. Then, rock up at the Adelaide Aquatic Centre at your scheduled time. Please bring any reports, notes, X-rays, or MRIs to your first session.

Simply answer a few questions, and do a few quick physical and posture tests, and Stacey will diagnose what needs to be done.

Stacey uses an evidence-based physical approach to treatment. The techniques used may include:

• Massaging areas of your body
• Manipulating your joints
• Stretching your muscles
• Giving you exercises to do

You also learn self-management strategies to actively participate in recovery.

Before you leave, you are given information on what to expect, and plans and goals moving forward.

After you leave, please get in touch if you have any remaining questions. Happy to help.
